Shiva Purana and Glimpses of Ancient Wisdom   Study of literature whether contemporary or ancient gives glimpses of age, its socio-economic, political, religious, philosophic and historical aspects and thus, it is a compound approach to life and existence. Vision, knowledge and wisdom of the ancients attract and teach true art of life and do not hide imperfections and negativity. Subjects of perennial interest – creation, preservation and dissolution form the fundamental substance when they tell through various discourses, tales and legends about creation, destruction, and growth of life in between. They speak of different ages, Solar and lunar dynasties, lineage of rulers with microscopic particulars. Sage Vyasa taught and transmitted ancient wisdom to his devotee Lomaharshana...
Excerpt from Nadabindu Upanishad. (Voice footnote refers to this scripture)   21. O intelligent man, spend your life always in the knowing of the supreme bliss, enjoying the whole of your Prarabdha (that portion of past Karma now being enjoyed) without making any complaint (of it). 22-23(a). Even after Atma-Jnana (knowledge of Atman or Self) has awakened (in one), Prarabdha does not leave (him); but he does not feel Prarabdha after the dawning of Tattva-Jnana (knowledge of Tattva or truth) because the body and other things are Asat (unreal), like the things seen in a dream to one on awaking from it. 23(b)-24. That (portion of the) Karma which is done in former births and called Prarabdha does not at all affect the person (Tattva-Jnani), as there is no rebirth to him. As the body that exists in the dreaming state is untrue, so is this body.   25(a). Where then is rebirth to a thing that is illusory? How can a thing have any existence, when there is no birth (to...

Science rediscovering the law of cycles  By lover of Ancient wisdom Time is not leniar. It is cyclic - like day and night, sleeping and waking, activity and rest, birth and death, the present is the logical and just outcome of the actions done in the past, the present planetary system which is the scene of evolution of beings is the cyclic return of the previous cycles of planetary evolution which ended, and is now re-embodied, beings retuning to continue their evolution from the stage they had reached in the past    Law of cycles, Karma and Reincarnation are inseparable.    Roger Pentose speaks of Aeons. Aeon is a Latin term for Being, Age, Eternity, which is Sanskrit equivalent of Yugas, Kalpas, Manvantaras - great cycles of evolution of worlds and Beings    Penrose is repeating ancient wisdom that universe is governed by immutable laws of cycles, of Karma, of re-embodiment - evolved over immense cyclic periods of time down to smalle...
DHAMMAPADA - A SPIRITUAL CLASSIC by T K Jayaraman IRS(rtd)     1. “Dhammapada” is a remarkable spiritual classic which has indeed universal appeal. The teachings contained in this Buddhist work will be of immense use to all spiritual seekers irrespective of their religious affiliations. The original is in Pali language. Several English translations are available. In this post, I am giving the gist of its teachings. There are 26 chapters each dealing with a particular topic relevant for all human beings. Each chapter contains teachings in the form of verses. In all, there are 423 verses. 2. The first chapter is entitled “Twin Verses”. Happiness pursues a man of pure thought as his shadow that never leaves him. Evil pursues one with evil thought as the wheel of a wagon follows the hoof of the ox that draws it. Hatred will not cease in one with thoughts of revenge. The Eternal Law is that enmity is appeased by love and not by hatred. A life of moderation is secure li...
